A subsidiary of Swisscom, dominates the market for sourcing decisions Swiss bank with a market share of 59%, and this either with major (40% market share) than smaller institutions (64% share market).

This is one of the results of the analysis “Handout Swiss Banking 2010″ conducted by Active Sourcing.

For its part, Econ is present with banks Säntis she rescued from Swisscom IT Services.

The outsourcing of information technology plays an important role in banks: over two thirds of respondents in the survey have already experienced.

Outsourcing call centres ‘wrong’ – Key

July 29th, 2010

Prime Minister John Key says companies choosing to send their call centres to other parts of the world “are making the wrong choice”.

He wants other New Zealand companies to take note of Canon’s new call centre on the Shore.

Mr Key told the North Shore Times it is a positive move to open call centres in New Zealand because it creates employment for people of different age groups and ethnicities.

He attended the official opening of the new Canon Oceania contact centre along with Northcote MP Jonathan Coleman.

Mr Coleman agreed with Mr Key’s comments, saying it is a business’s decision to locate call centres overseas but the government wants to encourage them back or to stay here in the first place.

Local people understand local customers’ needs, he says.

“It is nice to know if you are calling from Northcote you are talking to someone just down the road”, says Mr Coleman.

The centre has created 80 new jobs on the North Shore and serves customers across four different time zones, from Gisborne to Perth in Australia.

New Zealand IT company Datacom will run the centre for Canon, which makes cameras, printers and photocopiers.

Canon’s country manager Mike Johnston says superior “customer service is a priority and a point of difference for the company”.

“New Zealand and Australia also have similar cultures and expectations and with so many Kiwis living in Australia hearing a New Zealand accent is not unusual for an Australian customer.”

It makes good business sense to manage the contact centre in house, rather than sending it offshore, Mr Johnston says.

Many companies, especially in the banking and telecommunications sector, have come under fire for outsourcing jobs to countries such as India and the Philippines in recent years.

July 29th, 2010

himoga, the home town of chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and BJP state unit president KS Eshwarappa, is set to become a business process outsourcing (BPO) hub soon.

Buzz up!
David Andrews, CEO of Xchanging, who is part of Cameron’s business delegation, signed the MoU with the state owned enterprise KEONICS managing director Harikumar Jha, to develop a special economic zone (SEZ) in Shimoga, in the presence of Yeddyurappa, on Wednesday, Jul 28.

This global business processor, will develop the new SEZ with a state-of-the-art processing centre on six acres of land.

“We have received tremendous cooperation from the state government. We are looking forward to expand our business in the state,” Andrews said.

Yeddyurappa said the state would extend full cooperation to the company in developing the SEZ.

The chief minister said, “after the recent Global Investors Meet in Bangalore, several major IT companies were looking to set up business in Karnataka and we have decided to focus on developing tier-2 cities in the state to attract IT investment.”

NCC warning over govt IT contract renegotiation

July 29th, 2010

UK outsourcing firms may be affected if the government chooses to renegotiate its major IT contracts, the National Computing Centre (NCC) has said.

A total of 35 major government IT outsourcing contracts are potentially at risk of renegotiation in the coming years, technology analyst Ovum claimed last week.

The company issued the warning after the Con-Lib coalition imposed a £100 million cap on public IT contracts, seeking to cut spending and reduce the budget deficit.

Michael Dean, head of marketing at information technology membership and research organisation the NCC, said the impacts of the spending cuts “could be significant”.

“If the government take a hardline approach through either non-renewal or renegotiation, outsourcers will be forced to find alternative revenue streams,” he stated.

He suggested this could be difficult in a market reported to be in decline.

According to data and advisory firm TPI, the global outsourcing market is not yet bouncing back, as economic uncertainty continues to weigh on corporations around the world.

The total worth of commercial outsourcing contracts valued at £16 million or more was £11.7 billion in the second quarter of 2010, down by 13 per cent both sequentially and year-over-year.

TPI reported that the Europe, Middle East and Africa market has been particularly affected, as has the normally strong Asia/Pacific region.

“While a lot of outsourcing goes overseas, the UK industry will still be affected,” Mr Dean stated.

“However, outsourcing agreements are a two-way street based on contracts and outsourcers will resort to legal defences if they are not happy with ‘renegotiation’. This may result in delay or penalties due to outsourcers.”
