The Hagedorn GmbH, a provider of blade technology and paper tools in Germany, against the trend recorded a very good first half of 2010. In particular, the “Hagedorn knife Management System (HMS-Plus), an outsourcing and logistics model for continuously available, ground knife in printing and finishing companies, was almost one hundred times ordered.
The known performance and significantly prolonging the service life of blade systems could be sold well nationally as internationally.
To the great demand for products and services to meet the innovative family business, was now just under half a million euros in new machine technology for improved product quality investments.
Basic idea of the Hagedorn knife Management Systems (HMS-Plus) is to take a print and finishing company in the field of cutting expenses as much as possible and to provide both optimal tools.
Specifically, this means that customers get under the outsourcing model supplied individually supply knife quota as standard equipment. the knives have to be reground, this brings the Hagedorn GmbH from the contract customers and automatically with new, ground knife.
The advantages for the customers: They have not only an all-round care without having to invest in blades and a fixed monthly amount, but can also be used constantly and with no waiting knife with extremely high-quality cutting steels. Several hundred companies in Germany and Europe have therefore already chosen the innovative HMS Plus model – is still rising.
Large investments
In order to meet the large demand for various blade systems, the Hagedorn GmbH an extensive investment in machinery and technology has started. Thus, in Frankfurt already taken a new CNC grinding center for high-precision grinding of circular blades in operation.
This investment was necessary in order to fulfill a major new order for the grinding of 3600 monthly circular knives also.
Highlight the grinding program is the Super-Finish polish, mirror finish, in which the edges are lapped and thus a smooth and dust-free cut and created a 50 percent increase in service life of the machine. companies use, the circular knife with a super-finish grinding of the Hagedorn GmbH able to save half the cost of Neumesser and fourth in the grinding costs.
In Bergisch Gladbach also a new plant was installed, which takes over the grinding of machine knives with a unique angle geometry. Aligned are these knives in the cutting of photo papers, which contain up to six different coatings, and therefore are very difficult to cut.
A solution to this problem are now due to the new plant at Hagedorn possible: knives of 500 mm to 2600 mm in length equipped with a special angle geometry, so that a tearing prevents the paper before cutting with the previously inevitable rough edges and the consequent increased paper dust is.
The third investment is finally grinding the HMS model used in high performance knives. To guarantee the part of the outsourcing model guaranteed replacement within 48 hours, were ordered for the locations in Munich, Leipzig and Hannover in additional high-performance CNC grinding machines. These will be delivered in October and installed.
“With one of the largest investment in our history we are extremely well equipped for the future,” says Managing Director Dipl-Ing. Horst Hagedorn. “With the success in the back and the economic recovery in the printing industry before us, we look very optimistic about the future.”
Hagedorn continues: “Regardless of whether our customers use the HMS Plus model to purchase or acquire such conventional knives for sale, each and every print finishing company receives from our cutting tools optimized for maximum service life. Guaranteed!”
