Managed hosting and server virtualization is set for growth in 2011, it has been claimed.

According to new research conducted by IT experts Ovum, the business process outsourcing market is an area of the economy which will do particularly well in the coming year.

Ovum’s IT Services Contracts Analytics report, which is used to track high-value business deals in the outsourcing and server virtualization sector, shows that while adoption rates have dropped off in recent months – as a direct result of the recent economic downturn – the case for outsourcing remains a strong one.

“Outsourcing back-office processes was once seen as a radical, aggressive move… but the market has become more complex and nuanced,” Patrick O’Brien, Ovum principal analyst and author of the new IT Services Contracts Analytics report, said.

“The competitive landscape has changed dramatically, and the capabilities of vendors have improved drastically,” he added.

Recently, Broadband Testing and Spirent Communications claimed that totally secure mid market virtualization solutions were now a possibility.
