BIZ PLANNING FOR PROFIT: Business Planning for Profit is a step-by-step program for starting a business, making money and business goals. This six-week course covers in-depth: clarifying your business concept and defining meaningful goals, conducting market research and developing your strategic position, handling government requirements, managing your money, developing an effective marketing and sales campaign, hiring and leading great employees,and getting and staying organized.
The next class will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Unlimited Future Inc. 1650 8th Ave., Huntington.
One of the main focuses of the course is to help people understand how to acquire funding so that they can get their business started the right way. Qualified students who complete this course and have a written business plan will be eligible to apply for a West Virginia State Micro-loan for amounts between $1,000 and $15,000 to help with start-up expenses.

SUICIDE PREVENTION: The West Virginia Council for the Prevention of Suicide will host a workshop to educate the community and increase awareness about the silent epidemic of suicide. The workshop will be hosted from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the Holiday Inn Express located at 100 Civic Center Drive in Charleston. Any individual interested in learning about the prevention of suicide is encouraged to attend.
Registration costs $15 and will begin at 8 a.m. the day of the workshop. Application has been made to offer continuing Education Units for West Virginia social workers, nurses, licensed professional counselors and certified addiction counselors in attendance. QUICKBOOKS: A class called Basic Accounting with Quickbooks will be offered from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, with lunch provided. It will be at Unlimited Future Inc., 1650 8th Ave., Huntington. The fee is $150 per person.
It aims to teach how to take charge of your record and bookkeeping. Taught by Bagby, Johnson & Associates, AC, this course will teach basic and advanced Quickbooks mechanics that will be important to your business. If you are familiar with accounting, this class will show you how to use Quickbooks to make your bookkeeping activities less time consuming.
